Natural Stress Relief – Rescue Remedy

Orange foam rings hangs on the bamboo wallNo other Bach Flower essence has generated so many reports of positive experiences as the Rescue Remedy. For that reason, Rescue Remedy is the most well known of the Bach Flower Remedies.

This healing system was developed by Dr. Edward Bach, a medical doctor, homeopath and physician, in the 30ies in England. The Bach Flower Remedies help balance negative mental and emotional states to promote healing. It is comprised of 38 flower essences; Rescue Remedy is considered the “39th formula”.

This crisis formula is a mixture of five different remedies:

  • ROCK ROSE to calm terror and fear

  • IMPATIENS to help with frustration and irritability

  • CHERRY PLUM to help us stay rational

  • STAR OF BETHLEHEM to deal with shock or trauma

  • CLEMATIS to keep us grounded

The 39th formula was created by Dr. Bach to deal with emergencies and crisis – the moments when there is no time to make a proper individual selection of remedies. It can be used to help us get through any stressful moments such as public speaking, writing an exam, undergoing a job interview or visiting the dentist. It may help deal with the aftermath of an accident or with receiving bad news.

In an emergency or a stressful situation, Rescue Remedy can be taken straight from a dropper bottle, four drops at a time directly on the tongue. Alternately, you may put four drops in a glass of water and take frequent sips until the emotions have calmed. Taking the Rescue Remedy from a spray bottle, you administer two sprays directly into the mouth. Rescue Remedy can be taken before, while or after a stressful situation. It may be taken as often as needed.

Rescue Remedy is designed to help cope with immediate problems and is not a long term treatment. If you notice that you need the Rescue Remedy every day, it may not be the right choice for you. If there are underlying problems that need to be addressed, you would be better off selecting a personal blend of the 38 different remedies. Contact a Bach Flower Practitioner for a consultation who will help you find the appropriate remedies for your individual situation. For short term use, Rescue Remedy has proven to be just what Dr. Bach envisioned: a popular natural stress relief that should be on hand when you need it!

Rescue Remedy does not replace any medical attention! (However, it does keep you calm while waiting in an emergency room.)
